Migrating 64 legal entities onto Workday

Private sector, and moving in the opposite direction: the group was acquiring companies throughout the project, so scope wasn't fixed at the start. It settled at 64 legal entities, each needing its HR, Finance and Payroll data migrated.

We led the data side - profiling the legacy landscape of databases, applications and spreadsheets for volume, quality and duplication, then building the mapping and transformation logic alongside a team of specialist contractors, field by field. We built the ETL using SQL and Diver Workbench, with cleansing, deduplication and validation built in, and rebuilt the affected Power BI reporting once legacy systems were decommissioned so nothing was lost in the transition.

Just as much of the job was making sure the right people were in the room: cataloguing every report and dashboard dependent on the legacy systems, and working with the Test Case Manager and Cutover Lead so the business could trust what was migrated before go-live.
